Through an agreement with the city of New Bedford, funding from the U.S. EPA enables the Ocean Explorium to educate the public and school-age students about the risks of environmental contamination in all its forms, and the role visitors can play as stewards of the environment.

Education through Cultural and Historical Organizations (ECHO)
U. S. Department of Education

Funding from the U.S. Department of Education, through ECHO, supports a number of educational and cultural programs for students, teachers and the general public. These programs include, among others, the Connecting Oceans Academy, Project Oceanology, the WOW Mobile and School Field Trips.
