Humans and the Ocean: Ocean Literacy Principals (opens 2010)

Humans and the Ocean uses a series of exhibits to depict our relationship with the marine habitat. It examines the vibrant fishing port of New Bedford and the dynamic ocean sciences community of the SouthCoast; a world-reknowned center for understanding the oceans.

Ocean Murals

Painted by local artist Arthur Moniz, two magnificent murals embrace the ends of the Ocean Explorium. These murals depict the beauty of a natural aquatic habitat and the dynamic cultural beauty of New Bedford’s working waterfront.  Artist's prints and notecards of these murals are available at our gift shop.
