NEW BEDFORD, MA (25 February 2010) — The Ocean Explorium, with generous support from the Women's Fund of the Community Foundation of Southeastern Massachusetts, announces the second annual Women in Science + Engineering (WiSE) speaker series.

NEW BEDFORD, MA (16 February 2010) — The Ocean Explorium announces a second speaker series, Cosmic Voice, will begin this week.
On Thursday, February 18, Kelly Beatty will present "The Sputnik Years". A specialist in planetary science and space exploration as well as Senior Contributing Editor for Sky & Telescope magazine, Mr. Beatty states "When a Russian rocket lofted Sputnik I into orbit on October 4, 1957, the worldwide reaction was a mixture of awe and apprehension. The Space Age - and the Space Race - had begun."

First there was a vision. Then there was The Sphere. Now, after years of hard work and anticipation, the Ocean Explorium in New Bedford has gone “live”.
It is open daily to the public with a vibrant and charismatic collection of marine animals from around the world.
"This is a great occasion for the city of New Bedford," said Mayor, Scott Lang, who officially opened the Ocean Explorium today at a ribbon-cutting ceremony with University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Chancellor, Jean MacCormack.

NEW BEDFORD, MA (10 June 2009)—The Ocean Explorium is starring in a powerful new documentary about the oceans, which will be seen by millions of people around the world. The two-hour long documentary is called Underwater Universe, and is being aired this month on the History Channel. It has also been made into a DVD, which is being marketed globally.
