Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Do you run programs for preschool students?
A. Yes we do! We run a fabulous water program that is GREAT for preschool age students, and have an Energy and Living Things Program and an Earth in the Solar System program that is great for both elementary and middle school students.
Q. Do you run programs for high school and college age students?
A. We run a Climate Change program which is geared specifically towards college and high school age students.
Q. Can my group touch the sharks and sting rays?
A. All field trips include time at the shark and ray touch tank; all students can put their hand in the water if they like. Many sharks and sting rays could come up for a touch, but there is never a guarantee that everyone will have an animal come up to them.
Q. What is the cost of a field trip?
A. The cost for a two hour field trip is $12/person at the regular rate and $6/person at the reduced rate: click here for details.
Q. I have a really large group of kids; can we all come for a field trip at the same time?
A. We are able to accommodate large groups of up to 80 students, and often more. If you have greater than 100 students, please contact us. During the busy summer months, we recommend combining your trip with a visit to another institution in downtown New Bedford to provide a longer, richer field trip experience for the large group.
Q. When are you available to host us for a field trip?
A. We can run a field trip on any day of the week, in the morning, afternoon or evening, starting at a time that is convenient for you. Please email our education department to ask about the availability of a specific date and time (email@example.com). Our summer field trip slots fill up fast! Contact us soon to book your trip!
