On April 3, 5 and 10, a dozen teachers participated in another successful teaching institute. The goal of the institute: to use the Science on a Sphere to assist teachers in the development or augmentation of Earth science curriculum.

Participants examined how scientists have unlocked the secrets of the ocean floor and come to understand the unique features of the earth from deep sea smokers to Mount Everest. Using inquiry-based approaches, participants explored plate tectonics, earthquakes, tsunamis, global topography (including that of the ocean floor) and remote sensing.

Instructors included: Hugh O’Mara, Jack Crowley, Mark Smith and Brad Harris.
