The citizens of greater New Bedford have spoken!  The Ocean Explorium has been awarded $2,700 through the Neighborhood Contributions Program of Citizens-Union Savings Bank. 

The Neighborhood Contributions Program was established to celebrate the grand opening of the newest Citizens-Union branch in the North end of New Bedford.  The Ocean Explorium was pleased to be among 34 organizations in the greater New Bedford area selected to participate in the Neighborhood Contributions Program. 

Citizens-Union officially launched the program on September 14, 2010, during the Grand Opening of the branch at 1000 Ashley Boulevard in New Bedford.  Through October 16, 2010, visitors to the branch were encouraged to vote for their favorite non-profit.  Votes were also cast at other venues, including the Ocean Explorium. 

A variety of arts and cultural venues, educational institutions, community organizations and social service providers were included, and the $25,000 will be allotted to participants according to the percentage of votes each received.
